About the artists

Nathan Welsh is a Gold Coast artist who was commissioned to paint the 2 new firefighting tanks at Syd Duncan Park.

Zoe Kearney is a Lower Beechmont artist and resident. Zoe was mentored by Gold Coast artist Emma-Alyce Parker collaborated with First Nations artist Melanie Gordon to paint the existing firefighting tank at Syd Duncan Park. Zoe experienced the 2019 bushfire event and Melanie Gordon is a First Nations artist with Wangerriburra (Lower Beechmont) heritage.

This project received grant funding from the Australian Government. It aligns with the City of Gold Coast's responsibility to coordinate and manage resources, ensuring safety in the local community before, during, and after a disaster.
