The main feature movie is Place of Thorns, the story of Puerto Escondido (Playa Zicatela), Mexico which is under threat from over-development. Produced by Alan Van Gysten and Edwin Morales.
The second feature is a doco on Gold Coast World Surfing Reserve produced by Griffith PHD student Tiago Falcao titled Panamuna (Aboriginal for Ocean).
The film festival includes a shorts movie program from internationally renowned surf and environmental filmmakers. This is a fundraiser event for GCWSR and GC Surfrider Foundation, creating awareness about coastal protection and safeguarding our unique surf breaks.
