Southport
A modern band that taps into vintage sounds of the 50s and 60s, blending classic R&B, Americana, swing, soul, jazz, and rock n roll influences with a fresh twist.
This emotive originals and covers band was established in 2013 with the aim to bring something fresh to audiences with an eclectic selection of tunes focusing on female performers and songwriters from the 1950s and early 60s.
Think of the raw, infectious grooves of artist such as Etta James, Ruth Brown, and Solomon Burke, but with a contemporary energy.
The band's sound is built on tight rhythms, brass section hooks, and strong lead vocals, with a nod to jump blues traditions. The music often combines lively, dance-able rhythms with a rich, soulful vocal delivery.
With 2 independent CDs under their belt, their music has received tremendous support from local, national and international air play radio stations and streaming sites.
Doors open at 6pm, concert commences at 7pm. Bar and bistro available.
Book your seat by phone or text to Keryn on 0419 658 983 or Dianne on 0402 895 008.
Presented by the Gold Coast City Jazz Club. Concerts are held twice monthly, usually on the first and third Tuesday.
